OOC Post: #DCRP for a #StarTrek RP Character

I've been playing Shara for over 9 years now. I love her. She's my favorite character to RP.

I've had a few "reboots" for her over the years. Once was for her as a character (she died and was recreated). Other times involved putting her in a new environment. I am far more a fan of the latter.

When Shara switched over to the Star Wars 'verse (around 8 years ago?), it was so much fun. Everything was new. New species, new planets, new people. (It's still fun. She's just used to it now.)

When I saw Manhunter asking for side SLs, I was intrigued. He plays #DCRP. A far cry from the scifi 'verses that are my usual playground. How could that work? Could it work? The idea fascinated me. So I said yes.

It has been nothing but an absolute pleasure.

First, Manhunter's writer is an excellent writer and SL plotter. We play well off of each other. He's talented. He's creative. He's witty. I love it.

Second, he has introduced me to a very new (for me) style of Twitter RP. It's much more like the old-school "play by post" RP that you see on forums. (I love the play-by-post RP style, but I have never used it on Twitter before.) I've seen it before, but didn't see how much better it works for different work schedules and time zones until now. Holy kark.

I have always used the *actions in asterisks* type of RP in the past, but having a style of RP where there is much more writing involved is such a remarkable change of pace. I adore it. Plus new starter posts for each "chapter" in the RP. It all works so well. (We have sparingly used a standalone starter before in my other RPG, but that was usually when the SL had been quiet for a while.)

Third, there is the challenge of bringing a character into a completely different world. How would Shara adapt? How would she respond? How is she going to cope? How is she going to get back home? How will she be changed once she gets back home to her 'verse? I love these challenges. They make me invest even more into the character.

So that's my bit of rambling for the day. I hope you are enjoying Shara's journey as much as I enjoy writing it.
